Fruit series
2020-21
Hand-cut Chinese mulberry paper, watercolour
103 x 103 cm each
This minimal and conceptual fruit series considers our relationship with nature and food.
Food is personal, and so should our concern for what we eat, at time when food faces environmental and technological challenges.
This new body of work also resonates with Taoist wisdom – simplicity, patience, compassion. Fruit is a metaphor for many things, and invites interpretations and contemplations. In this series, each paper-cut possesses its own symbolism: grapes, pomegranate, and melons symbolise fertility; and peaches symbolise long life.
