NOT FOR SALE!
2017
Installation, papercuts on Chinese paper, painted with ink and animation projection
240 x 270 x 75cm
Not for Sale! comprises 4 paper-cut units suspended from the ceiling. It draws on the disruptive nature of urbanisation from European settlement to the present, which is marked by overdevelopment and over-consumption.
Paper cutting is a metaphor for fragility and sustainability, as new forms are created through the process of deconstruction. Animation expands from the cutout revealing the constant change of ephemeral shadow shapes.
The juxtaposition of static and moving images evokes an awareness of the threatened state of the environment.
